Google My Business
It’s no surprise that a large majority of customers today are using search engines to find the services and products they’re looking for. You as the reader probably found this page through a search engine as well, looking for an online marketing service.
Although search engines play a big role in driving visitors to your site so that they may convert into leads, other factors are important in driving visitors to your site. Consider for example that Google confirms that 20% of all searches have local intent. When it comes to mobile devices, 40% of all searches have local intent. This means that if you’re not using Google My Business to list your business on Google results, you’re missing out on a majority of local intent searches. These searches are not for research or entertainment either, they are quality searches from an audience interested in specific products and services offered in the area.
When searching for a pizza shop today for example, local listings are listed at the top of the search engine results in a single row. These pizza shops are then ranked by rating and pricing. With local listings, a map also shows up with drop pins of where those local businesses are located. The beauty of being listed in Google My Business is that your site doesn’t have to be search engine optimized to show up on top of the results. Merely being close to the person searching for your business and having a decent rating is all it takes to show up within the first three results.
Google My Business is great because it also makes it easy for potential customers to see information about your business such as the hours it is open, or reviews other people have left about it.
Getting Setup With Google My Business
At A2D Digital Media we’ve been working with businesses in order to get them listed on Google My Business since Google first started offering their service. With a company as huge as Google, along with the opportunities they provide for marketing, it just makes sense to implement any of the services they offer for your business. That’s why we started using Google My Business for marketing our clients’ businesses as soon as the service was released.
Businesses that aren’t listed on Google My Business are missing out because chances are, their competitors are already listed locally. Not to mention that businesses that haven’t already claimed their business location can be vulnerable to their competitor taking it over, and marking the business as closed. This sort of thing has happened in the past and Google My Business is still vulnerable to this issue.
Other Business Listing Services
In addition to getting businesses listed on Google My Business, we can also get them listed on MapQuest, Yahoo!, Foursquare, Yelp, and other similar services. Being available on dozens of listing services, business directories, social media, and ranking high on search engines can go a long way to gaining the exposure your business deserves.
